Adrian Carr: bio

Adrian Carr
- composer/pianist/storyteller

As a composer and pianist, I work with music in a way which mixes my classical training with pop/rock culture creating a vibrant and emotional music. But what has added a whole new level of interest in my live shows is my story telling. Each of my albums is a story and each performance is a journey for me and my audience. I have performed in a variety of venues from Coffee Houses to Carnegie Hall.

In 2008, I released, Finding Charlotte which musically tells a story of some remarkable experiences I have had since my move north. My music and my influences seem to be expanding. My musical influences are as diverse as Chopin, to Leonard Cohen, and fellow pianists Tori Amos and George Winston.

In 2009 I took a slightly different direction in my solo piano music with a relaxation CD entitled Release.  The album was inspired by my work with Yoga Teacher and founder of Bodhi, Bhaskar Goswami.  I produced Bhaskar's CD Open Yoga.

I was born in Buffalo, New York and moved to New York City to attend The Juilliard School. After receiving my Bachelors, I was invited on full scholarship to Princeton University where I received my Masters. I lived in New York City and the Hudson River Valley for more than half my life. I opened one of the finest acoustic music recording and mastering facilities in New York where I received Grammy Entry nominations in classical and contemporary music as a recording engineer. But in 2005, I took some time and moved north to settle with my wife. Life is a journey, why not share the experience?
